3x Trees in 3 Years | Celebrating Our Green Initiative

Deforestation has been a frequent worry for many communities, not just environmentalists. When it comes to paper, U.S. businesses waste up to $8 Billion per year managing paper.

Even in the age of digital communications, our society still goes through a lot of trees in its day-to-day procedures. 

As a direct mail company, we play a part in that paper usage. While our TargetLists help to reduce many of our clients’ mail volume by over 80%, we still contribute to cutting down trees to produce our mailers. 

This is why three years ago our company began its Annual Tree Planting Program. The goal of this program is to replant three trees for every one we use for our mailers.

That way, our business can give back to the environment with every campaign!

In partnership with One Tree Planted, DK Solutions helped plant over 7,000 new trees in our nation’s forests over the past three years!

We are very fortunate to be working with such a wonderful nonprofit organization that has helped plant over 51 Million trees in 72 countries in 2023 alone!

Our 2024 Contribution

This year, our Annual Tree Planting Program will be donating to the 2024 Hawaii Project.

Our Co-founder and COO Liran Kapoano recounts his special connection to Hawaii,

“We chose Hawaii for a variety of reasons, not only is it arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world, but it’s also a place that is prone to wildfires. Not just from freak events like what happened on Maui, but also from predictable volcanic activity.” 

 “It is a place that is very close to my heart, it’s the fiftieth state I’ve been to. It was the last one on my list. So that was pretty cool. And they’ve gone through such a terrible tragedy in that part of the world that we felt that it made the most sense to do whatever we could.” Kapoano said. 

Hawaii is known for its gorgeous tropical landscapes as well as its exotic wildlife. However, both the land and animals are threatened due to deforestation from wildfires, such as the Maui fires of August 2023.

These devastating wildfires caused an estimated $5.5 billion in damages and cost over 100 lives.

Not only do these wildfires threaten the local communities, but a lack of habitat also threatens the many endangered species that reside within the island.

The ‘I’iwi bird, for example, lives in the elevated regions of Hawai‘i, Maui, and Kaua‘i. This species is constantly threatened by its shrinking habitat around the islands. 

Future Considerations

As DK Solutions looks to the future, one thing is for certain – our company will continue fulfilling on its green initiative to build a brighter tomorrow.
