Entrepreneurship is the heart of American commerce and prosperity. Small businesses make up an estimated 99.9% of all businesses within the U.S., accounting for 61.6 million jobs.
Maintaining a business is no small feat either, as an organization needs to operate seamlessly until it generates a profit – typically after 3 years.
Starting a new company venture is a dream for many, but it is not without risk. Nearly 20% of businesses fail within their first year in operation, and 50% fail within the first five years. Which means some small businesses shut down without ever turning a profit!
When it comes to building, operating, and maintaining a business, an entrepreneur needs to be forthright in their decision-making, highly observant to notice a market need, and disciplined enough to maintain their business regardless of outward adversity.
And in 2015, our Co-Founders did exactly that.
The Beginning
CEO Joel Dickstein and COO Liran Kapoano saw the unfathomable waste that the direct mail industry generated. Companies spent millions of dollars every week delivering mailers to households that would never read them.
Instead of creating more waste for companies, customers, and the environment, Dickstein and Kapoano asked themselves, “What if you applied the power of data modeling available for paid search campaigns to direct mail marketing?”
Why should customer targeting solely apply to digital marketing? Direct mail’s targeting capabilities far surpass the data accumulated through a user’s online experience. Plus, each prospect is tied to a verifiable address, so responses can be easily tracked, studied, and applied to future campaigns.
And with that, a company vision was born.
The Messy Middle
No company is without its ups and downs, and COVID offered the opportunity to reassess certain company workflows and deliverables. Every business dealt with product shortages, supply chain issues, and remote work initiatives during this time, and DK Solutions was no different.
Thankfully, the challenges of COVID were short-lived for the direct mail company, and in 2021, the business settled into its current residence in East Brunswick, NJ. Throughout this time, DK Solutions has hired new employees, acquired new clients, and operated within several new industry verticals.
Most notably, the company celebrated its status as a 3x Inc 5000 honoree, as well as the 5-year anniversary of the DK Solutions Annual Tree Planting Program. Both achievements highlight the power DK Solutions has within the marketing industry, both for its prestige and its environmental generosity.
Looking to the Future
DK Solutions has had the honor of delivering targeted mail to American households from coast to coast since 2015. While every campaign has its challenges, the company continuously surpasses expectations every year.
Like with any business operating within the world, the future economic landscape remains unknown to us. But the foundation and experience DK Solutions has generated over the past decade prove how formidable the company is amid the uncertainty.
